A Falkirk man hedged his bets and took the punt of his life to propose to his girlfriend at a horse racing meeting on St Andrew’s Day.
Cookery student Scott Cunningham (26) got down on bended knee in the parade ring in front of hundreds of racegoers at Musselburgh Racecourse and popped the question to girlfriend of one year Danielle Anderson from Cumbernauld.
The couple, who met while working together at a care home, are big race fans and Scott decided to make their visit to a course for the Saltire Race Day one to remember.
He said: “It took me ages to plan exactly what I was going to say as I wanted to make sure I got it perfect.
“We hit it off immediately. It became clear early on that we were extremely happy, we are made for each other.
“I was unbelievably nervous and my whole body was trembling, but Danielle said yes and that’s all that mattered.”
Blushing bride-to-be Danielle (27), a nursing student, said: “I was totally shocked, I had no idea what was going on. I could not have asked for a more perfect day and I just want to thank everyone who was involved – but especially Scott, I cannot wait to start planning.”
Scott also thanked staff from Musselburgh Racecourse.
