The seven-month-old moggy, named Rudey, hadn’t been seen for two weeks when it was discovered alive in the town last Thursday.
It’s not known how the animal suffered the gruesome slit to its neck.

Hide AdCampaigners have since raised more than £2000 to cover the cost of vet bills via a GoFundMe page.
Rudery is now undergoing almost daily observations and Falkirk-based service Lyn’s Small Animal Rehoming has stepped in to offer support.
Owner Lyn Reid said: “It’s hard to say how Rudey was injured, it’s a very clean cut but the vet thinks it might have happened when he first went missing.
“So with all the infection and skin that’s already dead and can’t be saved we are in for a long hard fight with the wee guy.
“But he’s only seven months so deserves a chance.

“His mandible is also showing so it’s not going to be easy.
“I really hope this has just been an accident and nobody is responsible.”
The cat's owner and the Scottish SPCA are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn said: “We would encourage anyone with any information to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999 or Police Scotland on 101.”
