Police have arrested and charged two women in connection with an incident involving an 18-month-old girl left to wander the streets alone.

The child was found by a concerned passer-by on the corner of Abbotsford Drive and Glenbervie Road in Grangemouth at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Police were called and the girl, wearing pyjamas, only one shoe and reportedly with a bruised and scratched face, was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for a check-up.

A police spokesperson confirmed the women, aged 33 and 54, had been arrested and charged under the Children and Young Persons Act and are expected to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court tomorrow.
