Tributes flood in for tragic teenager Kyle

Messages of condolence and tributes have been pouring in for a teenager who was found dead in Callendar Park at the weekend.

Police Scotland confirmed the body found in the Falkirk park on Saturday was Kyle Johnstone, who had been reported missing on Friday.

An officer from the dog unit discovered the 17-year-old during a search of the area.

Kyle’s family have been informed of the tragedy and thanked the public for their messages of support.

Inspector Donna Bryans said: “This is a tragic loss of a young man’s life and our sincere condolences are with Kyle’s family who have respectfully requested that they be left to grieve at this very sad time.

“Thank you to everyone who came forward with sightings of Kyle and shared our earlier appeal.”

The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

Facebook and social media have been full of tributes to the teenager and messages of sympathy to his family.

Cheryl Robertson: “My wee boy knew Kyle from the skate park. He said Kyle often looked after the younger ones and kept them safe. And that he was such a nice person. My heart goes out to his family, what a sad and tragic loss.”

Karen McElroy: “Absolutely heartbreaking news. Kyle was such a lovely young man who I had the pleasure of knowing well at Larbert High. My thoughts and prayers are with Kyle’s family.”
