Proceedings began last week with Andrew Thomas presenting the prosecution’s case to the jury, stating he would attempt to prove the accident in January 2014 was “entirely avoidable”, the safety equipment provided was “worse than useless” and the incident was a “clear case of an employer putting profit before safety”.

Matters have adjourned for this week and the defence will begin its case when the trail reconvenes on Monday.

Mr Harrower, a 42-year-old father-of-two, died, after sustaining serious head injuries from plunging 25 feet to the ground on January 21 at a building site in Stockport.

Just hours earlier a 45-year-old workman, also from the Falkirk area, was hurt after falling from the same roof.
