Fence to be installed to stop youths sitting on M80 flyover

Security fencing is to be installed at a Denny danger spot to stop youths sitting on the edge of a motorway flyover.

In October we told how groups had been seen scrambling up an underpass in Castlerankine Road to get onto a bridge which forms part of the M80.

Road maintenance firm BEAR Scotland has confirmed a fence will be erected around the M80 Myothill Road bridge to prevent unauthorised access to the structure.

Motorists have been advised to expect delays in the area as the work, which is due to start next week, will require the installation of temporary traffic lights in Castlerankine Road.

Traffic restrictions will be in place between 8am and 5pm each day from Monday, February 22 until Friday, February 26.

The work is weather dependent and may be postponed in the event of adverse conditions.

BEAR Scotland has said it “will endeavour to keep all stakeholders updated if any changes occur”.
