Falkirk area roads to stay shut for extra week for water pipe upgrades

Blackbraes Road was closed between California and Avonbridge on September 7, with the roundabout on the B8028 Falkirk Road and Boxton Road also sealed off.
A diversion was put in place through Avonbridge and California, with road users travelling between Shieldhill, California, Blackbraes and Avonbridge impacted.

Hide AdThe start date set by Scottish Water was delayed due to an “operational issue” and motorists will face further disruption as the work now will not be completed until October 16, the company has confirmed.
The work is part of a project to upgrade the water pipes to allow a number of new houses to connect to the public water supply.
The new pipes are to be installed under the roundabout to allow connections to the existing pipes which are supplied by the nearby Greyriggs service reservoir.
Greyriggs service reservoir supplies water to more than 2000 propertie in the Avonbridge and Standburn areas.

Hide AdA Scottish Water spokeswoman said: “This project was delayed by an operational issue relating to the backfeed of water needed to keep customers in supply. This has now been addressed and work is under way.
“This work, to upgrade water pipes to allow a number of new houses to connect to the public water supply, is now due to be completed by October 16. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
