Cyclist (16) killed in Laurieston traffic collision

Police are looking for witnesses to a road traffic incident which resulted in the death of a 16-year-old cyclist.

The collision happened just before 9pm yesterday on the A803 Polmont Road at its junction with Dundas Road, Laurieston, and involved a silver Mercedes Benz and the cyclist.

Unfortunately the cyclist – a teenage boy – was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old driver of the Mercedes and his two passengers were uninjured.

Emergency services and collision investigators were in attendance at the scene and the road was closed overnight, before re-opening at 4am today.

Sergeant David Marr, of the road police unit, said: “This was a serious collision and our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of the boy who sadly lost his life, along with those involved.

“Our enquiries into the cause of the collision continue and I would ask anyone who saw what happened to come forward.”
