Traffic chaos as yet another HGV crashes into railway bridge

An HGV crashed into a railway bridge at a section of road in Camelon which is rapidly becoming an accident hotspot for lorries.

This latest incident happened just after 8am today as the lorry was leaving Camelon on the A803 Glasgow Road towards Bonnybridge and Denny. The vehicle struck the bridge and traffic came to halt as a result.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The driver of the HGV was not seriously hurt in the incident. The road will remain partially closed for the next hour while things are cleared away.

Diversions are in place, but we advise motorists to avoid the area if they can as there are likely to be delays.”

First Bus say their services have been effected by the incident.

Network Rail had an engineer at the scene at 9am.

A spokesman said: “The damage to the railway bridge was only superficial. We found no structural damage and train services are running as normal.”
