'No suspicious circumstances' surrounding canal death

Police have confirmed that the death of a woman in the Forth & Clyde Canal yesterday was not suspicious.

The incident occurred at around 12.30pm when a body was recovered from the water at Paterson Place in Bonnybridge.

The woman was taken to Forth Royal Valley Hospital in Larbert where she was pronounced dead.

Police carried out inquiries in the area but have now said there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The towpath has reopened and the public have been thanked for their patience while the investigation took place
