Minibus operator '˜not trustworthy' says Traffic Commissioner

After a public inquiry in Edinburgh Joan Aitken ruled Allan Mason, director of Allan Mason (Scotland) Ltd, had misled the regulator and refused him permission to run vehicles.

Mr Mason planned to run two minibuses from Laurieston, but his application was turned down.

During the inquiry the commissioner remarked on Mr Mason’s long standing involvement with operating vehicles, including through his wife’s operating licence.

The inquiry heard Ann Mason was disqualified from operating for three years in 2013 following a public inquiry into her own licence.

During that case, the traffic commissioner found Mr Mason, not his wife, was in control of the licence and had photocopied one of the vehicle licence discs so that it could be used illegally by an unlicensed operator.

The commissioner said: “Mr Mason does not have the necessary repute to be a public service operator. He doesn’t have the discipline or attitude to be such.

“I do not find him a credible individual. I cannot find him trustworthy.”
