A BP worker was rushed to hospital after he was injured in an 'electrical incident' at the firm's Kinneil oil terminal in Grangemouth.

The incident happened at the BP processing facility at 5pm on Monday and the employee was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, where he was said to be in a stable condition.

A spokesman for BP said on Tuesday: “We can confirm that an employee was injured yesterday at the BP operated Kinneil site near Grangemouth.

“The individual was taken to hospital following the incident where he is continuing to receive treatment and is in a stable condition. We take the safety of our employees extremely seriously and have started an investigation into the cause of this incident.

“Until this investigation is complete, we are unable to confirm any further details.”

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also attended the incident.
