Motorists face a two mile detour from today as a town centre road closes for resurfacing work to be carried out.
Cockburn Street in Falkirk is closed for 10 days from the Erskine Halls to the Howgate car park roundabout.
The closure of the 200 metre stretch of road, means drivers have a two mile detour. From a westerly direction, drivers will take in Tanners Road, Camelon Road, Glenfuir Road, Westburn Avenue and back to Cockburn Street.
From the east cars will have to go through Westburn Avenue, Glenfuir Road, Camelon Road and West Bridge Street to get to Cockburn Street.
A spokesperson from Falkirk Council said: “Resurfacing work is taking place at the junction at the Old Erskine Church and in order to manage the traffic efficiently, we are closing Cockburn Street for approximately ten days.
“The designated diversion route is designed to accommodate all sizes of vehicles and avoid congestion within surrounding side streets.”
Bus services will also be affected. Services, 3 will not call at Asda Falkirk or Park Street/Kerse Lane.
Services 4 and 4A will not cover Falkirk Community Hospital or Westburn Avenue during the road works.
