Top award for Bo'ness attraction

Volunteers and staff at a Bo'ness tourist spot are celebrating after it was confirmed as a top attraction.

Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway and Museum of Scottish Railways received recognition from VisitScotland for offering an outstanding visitor experience.

The Four-Star Quality Assurance rating is given to attractions which consistently achieve excellent standards.

The award will help the museum and railway line – both operated by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS) – to promote the wide range of fascinating activities and entertainment they offer visitors of all ages.

The attractions and their caterers, Saltire Hospitality, also boast a Taste Our Best award which recognises their commitment to serving quality Scottish produce.

Vic Michel, SRPS chairman, said: “We are delighted to receive our Four-Star award from VisitScotland. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers.”

Falkirk Council’s tourism spokesman, Councillor Adrian Mahoney, said: “The Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway and Museum of Scottish Railways are wonderful, unique tourism assets.”

Their award brings the total of 4-Star attractions Bo’ness boasts to four, the others being the Bo’ness Motor Museum, Hippodrome Cinema and Kinneil Museum.”
