Although it has previously been covered in the Falkirk Herald and on Forth Valley Police social media pages it would be remiss of me not to reiterate the appeal for information into the theft of turf from Camelon Cemetery in Dorrator Road last Thursday and Friday (February 11 and 12).
This has resulted in distress for families and cemetery employees. While the value of the theft was small the resultant impact on our community was huge. This has been evidenced by the large number of comments made on social media, both in the Falkirk Herald feed and Police Scotland.
As in many cases, the key to detecting this crime lies with the community.
Notwithstanding the work being undertaken by officers, I would ask that if anybody has any information that they call 101 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
CrimeStoppers has been going for over 25 years and provides an anonymous route to reporting crime – both by telephone and by a secure encrypted online form.
It provides an invaluable service to the police and the community and confidential means just that. It’s an excellent partnership which benefits the community, the police and victims of crime.
