If getting fit and doing someing to help others were on your New Year resolutions list, now’s your chance,
Entries have just opened for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life 2015 - the popular women-only event that’s full of fun but that raises money for a serious cause.
Across the country, women young and old are being invited to run, walk or even dance 5K during the summer to raise awareness and a stash of cash to fund research into the killer disease that affects so many people.
Last year, more than 2000 women took part in Falkirk’s Race for Life and raised more than £114,000, a sizeable contribution toward the £2.9 million gathered by Race for Life events across Scotland.
Now, women are being asked to sign up for this year’s event at Callendar Park on Sunday, June 21.
Anna Thompson, Cancer Research UK’s Falkirk event manager said: “If you’re looking for an opportunity to get a little or a lot more active in 2015, this is the time to enter Race for Life.
“With fire in their bellies and trainers ready, we know ladies across Falkirk are up for the challenge.
“Race for Life events are non-competitive.
“Taking part is not about being fit or fast and participants can choose to walk, jog, run or even dance around the course if they prefer.
“Race for Life celebrates everyone who is with us and honours those who have lost their lives to cancer. The atmosphere is electric and we’re calling on women to help make 2015 the best yet.”
Cancer survival rates have doubled since the 70s. But Cancer Research UK says more funds and supporters are needed to get to the day when all cancers are cured.
