Table top and hill top sports

1st Grangemouth, as current champions will be defending their title, this time in Ireland. To further encourage teams, a new trophy has been donated to recognise the top Scottish BB table tennis company; so a further match will be arranged between the Port Glasgow and Grangemouth teams.

Locally the table tennis league has been concluded with, predictably, 1st Grangemouth’s three teams in three of the four top places with only 1st Larbert (West Church) in third place splitting this monopoly, ahead of the other eight teams. Similarly only one individual (Callum Grant) from 1st Larbert got among the top ten individual 1st Grangemouth players.

Results from the national cross country competition on March 19, hosted by the Stirling Battalion over hilly courses at Lornshill 
Academy, are now to hand.

Notwithstanding the difficulties with our own competition, now postponed until April 23, three teams were selected to run in the sunshine in spectacular surroundings.

The intermediate and senior teams both took third place trophies with the juniors just missing out on a place in what was the largest field and hardest race.

At a meeting of Grangemouth Rotary Club, former Battalion president Eddie Collier was inducted and another former president, himself a former Battalion cross country champion, was invested with the a Paul Harris Fellowship, the highest award for service in Rotary International.

A further success for the 1st Grangemouth junior 
section was their winning the battalion figure marching competition on March 
19.
