Staff appointed to lead local Boys' Brigade

Following the departure of Andrew Johnston from the post of secretary, Bill Stevenson has been appointed as acting Brigade secretary/CEO and Jonathan Eales his deputy. '¨Bill has been BB director for Scotland over the last six years and Jonathan is the Brigade's business director. Both are experienced officers and Bill is based at Carronvale House. Helen Ward from 2nd Polmont (Old Church), Battalion training officer, has been appointed as Mid-Scottish district representative on the Scotland committee as successor to Alistair Joss who recently retired.

While giving updates on the progress of local companies in national competitions I indicated none had progressed to the Scottish final of the Masterteam Quiz. Despite being a question-master in one heat of the last round, I had not been appraised that 1st Denny & Dunipace had not only won their heat and moved to that final but in so doing had the top overall score from all the heats. George Barrowman also informs me that they are through to the last eight in the chess competition. Well done lads and good luck in the Scottish Masterteam Final which will be held on February 27.

2016 marks the 50th anniversary of Star Trek and it’s claim ‘To Boldly Go’ will be the theme of our 10th alternative worship event, ‘TurnaBBouT’, in Falkirk Town Hall on March 4. It will feature Bill Wishart from the Lothians, as MC and outreach speaker; Andrew Butchart, potential Olympic runner, a former Stirling BB member; ‘Rise’, the Larbert Pentecostal Christian Rock Band; Falkirk People’s Church Puppets; as well as items provided by local BB companies.
