Son steals £5000 from mum while she was in care home
Paul Watson pled guilty to the theft of £5036.31 from his mother Margaret between November 22, 2012 and August 5, 2013.
Watson, 51, had been due to stand trial at Livingston Sheriff Court today for embezzling £5217.41, but he changed his plea at the last minute and admitted taking the lower amount instead.

The Crown accepted his not guilty plea to a second charge of stealing a quantity of jewellery from Mrs Watson while she was a resident in Linlithgow Care Home in the town’s Saint Ninian’s Road.
The court was told he also has one previous conviction for an undisclosed offence.
Alan Jackson, defending, said an agreed narration outlining the facts of the case would be read at a future hearing.

She told him: “There is obviously information which will be required by the court and that is a substantial amount of money.”
The case was adjourned until March 31 for a criminal justice social work report including an assessment of Watson’s suitability for a community payback order with unpaid hours of work and his suitability for electronic tagging under a restriction of liberty order.
