Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by the Rev. Helen Cook. On door duty were: Ray Buchanan and Fiona Miller. During the service, the Rev. Cook welcomed organist Elizabeth Farley, back after being unwell. A big ‘thank you’ to Ann Morgan and Ray Buchanan who put together the beautiful Harvest Thanksgiving display, everything will be given to the Falkirk Food Bank. This was sadly the Rev. Cook’s last service with us, we have had the pleasure of Helen as our locum since February and we will all miss her greatly. The congregation and wider parish, along with the Board and Session wish Helen every blessing for the future. Linda McGarry presented Helen with a gift from the church as a memory of her time in Slamannan. We look forward now to welcoming Mrs Monica MacDonald O.L.M. who will be ordained into St Helen’s Church, Bonnybridge on Thursday, October 2, with the service commencing at 7 p.m. The funeral service for Crystal Lambie took place on Tuesday, September 23 and our deepest symapthy goes to the family. Anyone requiring the services of a minister, should contact the Rev. Helen Christie on (01324) 813786.

The first meeting of the 2014-15 season was held in Slamannan Community Centre on Wednesday, September 3. This was an open meeting and President Mrs Jane Miller welcome all who attended. We were entertained by expert flower arranger, Mrs Catherine Carter, who demonstrated four beautiful display arrangements, giving us a rundown on her experiences in the floral industry. Everyone enjoyed the evening. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 1 in Slamannan Community Centre commencing at 7 p.m. The demonstration will be ‘Reflexology’ with Ms Jeanette Day.
