Special Unveiling

On Saturday, August 16, a plaque and propeller (from the acutal Spitfire) will be unveiled at the Remembrance Garden in the village in memory of the young pilot who died during a training exercise in 1941. Please note the later time of 3 p.m., a short parade led by a Piper from near the crash site to the war memorial where a wreath will be laid before moving on to the garden, a large turnout is expected and all are welcome.

Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by the Rev. Helen Cook. On door duty were Charlene Condeco and Linda McGarry. The Bible reading was by Ray Buchanan. The memories DVD launch held last Wednesday was a great success and realised the sum of £506. Grateful thanks to all who helped in any way to make this possible. DVDs are on sale with information from Janette Baird on (01324) 851680. Boxes are still in the church for donations for the Falkirk Foodbank. The Congregational Board will meet on Tuesday, August 19, at 7 p.m. followed directly by the Session Meeting. A warm invitation is extended to all to join us in worship on Sundays at 11.15 a.m. Anyone requiring the services of a minister should contact the Rev. Helen Cook on 01786 464128.

Centre Committee

We are looking for keen, eager and positive people to be on our committee. If you are planning to be an active member in the committee or if you want to know more then please come along to the committee skills workshop on Wednesday, September 3 from 6.30-8.30 p.m. in Slamannan Community Centre. A crèche will be available if required. Please confirm your attendance with centre staff prior to Monday, August 25. Our expected date for an AGM will be Wednesday, September 17.

Angling Club

Permits to fish on the River Avon for season 2014 are now on sale. They are available from Linda’s Store (Slamannan); Rod and Creel (Carronshore); Go Fishing (Grahams Road, Falkirk) and also in Maryanne’s Alterations (Bo’ness), Linlithgow Post Office, Curries Printers in Broxburn and Livingston Angling (Houston Industrial Estate).
