Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev. Helen Cook who warmly welcomed everyone with good wishes for Easter. On door duty were: Fiona Miller and John Johnstone. Bible reading was by Lord Westerlea. An excellent performance from some of the Sunday School children about the story of the three trees was enjoyed by all, thanks to Ellie, Louise and Chelsea and Grace Douglas provided some lovely singing. The sponsored walk will take place on Sunday, May 18, leaving the church at 1 p.m. Sponsor sheets are available from Linda McGarry. The church Quiz competition was won by Nancy Johnstone, Limerigg. Boxes are still in the church for donations of all non-perishable items for the Falkirk Food Bank. A warm welcome awaits you to join us on Sunday at the usual time of 11.15 a.m. Sunday School meets at the same time and is open to all primary school aged children enrolled for school this year. Angling Club

Permits to fish on the River Avon for season 2014 are now on sale. They are available from Linda’s Store (Slamannan); Rod and Creel (Carronshore); Go Fishing (Grahams Road, Falkirk) and also in Maryanne’s Alterations (Bo’ness), Linlithgow Post Office, Curries Printers in Broxburn and Livingston Angling (Houston Industrial Estate). Lodge St John Slamannan No 484.On Wednesday, April 16 the R.W.M.James Kerr gave a warm welcome to a large attendance of members and visitors. the R.W.M. presented the gavel to the Substitute Master Bro.Graham McComb whoconferred the third degree on one candidate. This was carried out with dignity and decorum. At conclusion of the ceremony Brother McComb received a rousing applause by the assembled brethren. An Emergency Mark Degree will be held on Friday, May 16 at 7.30 p.m. to be conferred by the mark master P.M. Allan Barr. Visitors will be made welcome.
