Community Council

Shieldhill & California Community Council’s next meeting will be held in the Community wing, next to Shieldhill Primary School tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome - if you have any issues you wish to raise or highlight please attend.

School 50th

Today (Thursday) Shieldhill Primary School will be celebrating 50 years on its present site. As part of a series of activities we are looking for former pupils to help create a ‘where are they now?’ display. If you were once a member of Shieldhill Primary, please get in touch. We would love to hear about where you are living now, family you may have, career path, personal achievements and any special memories you may have of your time in Shieldhill. We would also be grateful for any photographs or memorabilia you may be able to offer on loan. Please forward any information or for further details e-mail or call (01324) 508540.

Gospel Hall

Timeout-14, the Friday programme for boys and girls, is on holiday for the Halloween weekend but will resume next Friday at 6.30 p.m. The Monthly Saturday Evening Ministry Meeting will be held on Saturday at 6.30 p.m. with the speakers expected to be Mr Robert Miller from Mayfield and Mr Bert Cargill from St Monans. All are invited to come and enjoy the teaching of the Word of God. The Christian gospel will be preached on Sunday at 3.30 p.m. by Mr John Alexander from Barrhead. All are invited to come and hear this important message. The Mums and Tots continues on Wednesday morning at 9.30 a.m. with play facilities free and tea and coffee available. Parish Church

Last Sunday’s ervice was conducted by Rev. Louise McClements assisted by Amanda McQuarrie who preached the sermon. This Sunday the service will be at the usual time of 10 a.m. Children attending Sunday School and the Apprentices meet in the church hall at 9.45 a.m. The Banner/Craft group meets on Fridays in the church hall from 2 until 4 p.m. Guild meets on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. in the church hall. Mrs Duncan will be the guest speaker, her talk is entitled “From Milk Pans to Bed Pans”. This is an invitation evening when we hope to have people from neighbouring churches. All are welcome. Board and session meet on Thursday, November 6, in the church hall at 7.30 p.m. On Friday, November 7, there is a cabaret evening in the Three Kings. Tickets priced £15 include a two course meal.
