She’s already well in training for this year’s MoonWalk Scotland – and when she crosses the finishing line on June 11 it will be the tenth time she’s completed the 26-plus mile course.

The mum-of-one from Grangemouth is delighted to support the event where women, and a few men, walk the route round the capital sporting brightly coloured bras.

The charity Walk the Walk which organises MoonWalks around the world, was set up to provide support for cancer patients.

So far, The MoonWalk Scotland has raised almost £19 million with all the cash staying in Scotland to improve the lives of those suffering from cancer.

Walk the Walk is the principal funder of Maggie’s Forth Valley, currently being built in the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert.

Sheona (46), who works at Syngenta, said she first had the idea of taking part because it was a good way to challenge herself.

Unfortunately her attempt to sign up for the first event in Edinburgh in 2006 was too late but she did go along to help as a volunteer. Since 2007 she has completed every one.

She said: “It’s a really great feeling when you complete it. My favourite time is when you are walking along the coast route from Crammond and as you approach Portobello the sun is coming up.

“It’s a fantastic experience for a really good cause.”
