Sawmill death victim from Langlees was a '˜good lad'

The preliminary report into the death of a young man at a sawmill in Falkirk last week has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal, police '¨have confirmed.

Jamie McLean (22), from Langlees, was tragically killed as he worked at the James Callander & Sons site in Abbots Road, Bainsford last Wednesday.

It is believed he was involved in an accident with two vehicles. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but Jamie sadly died from his injuries.

Jamie, a triplet, is survived by brothers Andrew and Calum, sister Linzi and parents Jim and Moira.

A local shopkeeper in Langlees said: “I’ve known the boys since they were young and they are all good lads, never in any trouble. It’s a real tragedy for such a nice family.”

A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said its investigation is ongoing. A Police Scotland spokesperson said officers are working with HSE inspectors and enquiries are continuing.
