Tragic road accidents claimed the lives of two young Falkirk men.

John Martin (37) was the passenger in a Honda Civic which rolled over on a rural stretch of Lochgreen Road, Falkirk, on Wednesday, August 22.

Less than 30 hours later, Spanish national Raul Vazquez Escibano (25), who was living in Glasgow Road, Camelon, died when the Volkswagen Passat he was travelling in crashed into a tree in Bathgate.

The driver, Stuart Cunningham (41), of Falkirk, appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the collision.

He made no plea to the charge of cause death by drink driving and was remanded in custody.

Police investigating the Lochgreen Road incident, which occurred around 3.30 p.m., are still anxious to trace the driver of a black Alfa Romeo seen leaving the scene of the collision.

The driver and two passengers in the Honda, males aged 19, 20 and 43, were all taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment and all have now been released.

Mr Martin, of Hallglen, was pronounced dead at the scene, close to Greenrigg Cottages.
