Railway flooded between Camelon and Cumbernauld

Scotrail say services from the town centre station in both directions will be affected until the early afternoon although none have been cancelled.

The burst water main in Cumbernauld is causing chaos to thousands of homes and businesses, with the main Antonine shopping centre due to close as a result.

Households in Abronhill, Kildrum and Carbrain are currently without water supplies, after the main burst in Forest Road and diversions are causing problems on roads.

Scottish Water engineers are at the scene and have switched off the water supply from the burst pipe which has caused flooding between Camelon and Cumbernauld.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “A burst water main has been located in Forest Road. Customers may experience a loss of water supply, low pressure and discoloured water.

“We are working to restore supplies to affected customers as quickly as possible and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Network Rail say delays or cancellations are possible until the problem is sorted.

A latest update from Scotrail reports that services between Glasgow and Falkirk Grahamston are continuing to run non-stop between Queen Street and Camelon at the moment, but travellers are being urged to check journeys before setting off.
