Fans were quick to snap up tickets to see Sir Tom Jones play Falkirk Stadium this summer with 3000 sold in the first 20 minutes.
Some were so eager to ensure they saw the legendary singer from the Welsh valleys that they queued from 7 a.m. last Friday, while others took to the phones and internet to get tickets for the August 1 gig.
Although the Rock the Stadium event was unveiled later than in previous years, the promoters are convinced there will be no shortage of fans coming along.
Les Kidger, the event director with LCC Live, said: “It’s great to be bringing another legend to Falkirk. His appeal is to teenagers who know him from ‘The Voice’ right up to those who knew him when he had his first hits.
“Last year with Rod Stewart you knew that you would be guaranteed a great show but when the legend that is Sir Tom plays it will be another level.”
LCC Live has worked with Rock the Stadium, Falkirk FC’s events company, since the idea of using the arena for music concerts was first considered – and they are delighted with both the venue and the area.
Les added: “Lots of football and rugby clubs get in touch with us about holding concerts but Falkirk is certainly leading the way.
“We have a great relationship with the football club and we are made very welcome. We bring about 100 staff with us and they think the area is a real home from home.”
The good news for music fans is that LCC Live is keen to continue that relationship. Les said: “We certainly have two or three other big names on our bucket list that we’d like to see playing Falkirk.”
