Bantaskin Primary School pupil Jennifer Cook will play a starring role in this year’s big day, being crowned Mariners Day Queen 2016 by local florist Eileen Ferguson just before 1pm on Saturday in Stirling Road park in Camelon.

The procession will leave Lock 16 at around 11.30am and, with musical accompaniment from Camelon Pipe Band and Tulliallan Pipes and Drums, will wind its way down Carmuirs Avenue and Wilson Road, along Glasgow Road and Main Street, turning into Dorrator Road, back round on to Nailer Road before finally turning onto Stirling Road.

Lindsay Smith will present the keys to Provost Pat Reid during the ceremony in the park and MSP Michael Matheson will also be present among the guests.

After Jennifer’s crowning, people will be able to enjoy the fun fair and myriad of stalls set up in the park as well as an all-action display from Martin’s Taekwondo Ninjas.

This year’s musical entertainment will include Falkirk singing sensation Dionne Hickey, young songstress Saskia Eng and the sublime vocals of Kevin Bimpson.
