Pub raises glass to port's good times

The Earl of Zetland will be a trip down memory lane filled with happy memories for locals as it dedicated an area in its premises solely for the images of precious moments from Grangemouth people’s lives.

The pub has been looking to prove its commitment to the community since being taken over by Hawthorn Leisure in April.

The idea was the brainchild of manager Shelley Davis whose inspiration came from customers’ nostalgic memories of times when the pub was a church.

East Falkirk MP Martyn Day was invited to the launch of the initiative last week to place the first photograph on the wall.

He said: “Aside from the obvious pleasures pubs bring, they are a huge contributor to both the local economy and society so it was a privilege for me to get involved in supporting this.”

Shelley said: “It’s now about making the Earl central to local lives, of which the photographs are just the start.”
