POLICE are investigating what appears to be a third tragic death in Denny.

Forensic experts already examining human remains found in the debris of Castlerankine Farm, which burned down two weeks ago, have now also been called in after a corpse was discovered in a flat in the town.

The grim find was made on Sunday by firefighters from Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service called out to deal with a burst pipe in the building in Bridge Crescent.

Shocked neighbours have said the property was occupied by two elderly brothers and fear one of them might be the dead man.

Police are treating the death as suspicious and confirmed a post mortem and forensic tests will be carried out to identify the body.

The electoral role shows that a John Brown lived there and it is believed his brother cared for him when he fell ill.
