The Company Section junior five-a-side league ended on November 20 at Carronvale House.

The outcome went to the wire but 1st Polmont (Brightons Church) prevailed over 1st Grangemouth (Abbotsgrange Church) with 1st Larbert (West Church) third. The winners were awarded the new trophy sponsored by 1st Klass Barbers from Bainsford.

Twelve teams took part in the Battalion Vaulting Competition on November 21. Competition was keen and only small scoring differences separated the winners, again 1st Polmont, from second and third 1st Haggs (Haggs Church) and 8th Falkirk (Bainsford Church).

Paul Mitchell from 8th Falkirk is putting a different slant on fundraising by holding a talent show in Bainsford Church Hall at 6.30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday). Entry is by donation on the night.

Twenty years ago Falkirk & District Stedfast Association was set up with the encouragement of the Battalion; particularly the late Gordon Sneddon (3rd Grangemouth) and Brian Crawford (ex 2nd Polomont).

It flourishes and meets monthly for social events, visits, days away and holidays as well as assisting the battalion. Members held a 20th anniversary dinner on November 23 in Polmont Greenpark Centre. They were welcomed by President John Aitken (ex 1st Larbert) and a celebration cake was cut by Brian who, along with his wife Margaret, has returned to the area after an absence ‘up north’. Following a delicious meal, prepared by A T Foods Catering, Helen and Fraser Binnie (ex 3rd Grangemouth) entertained with music, nostalgic group singing and repartee.
