Queues as Falkirk district voters head to the polling stations

With just over two hours till the polls close in the 2021 Holyrood elections queues formed a many polling stations across Falkirk district.

Coronavirus guidelines see fewer people allowed inside polling stations at any time – some only allow one person or one household to enter to make their mark on the two voting forms.

Other measures in place include hand sanitising stations, maintaining two metre distancing, the need to wear face coverings, and people being encouraged to bring their own pen or pencil.

Although the polls close at 10pm the counting of votes will not begin until tomorrow at 9am within the counting centre at Grangemouth Sports Complex.

Falkirk East will be counted tomorrow and Falkirk West on Saturday.

Both results are expected by teatime.
