Michelle Thomson thanks supporters for Falkirk East SNP election ticket
The former Edinburgh West MP secured her party’s nomination yesterday after a four-way contest.
On social media she tweeted: “So pleased to have the honour to be selected as SNP candidate for Falkirk East.

Congratulations also came from Cecil Meiklejohn, one of the four female candidates who sought the seat.
The SNP Group leader at Falkirk Council paid tribute, saying: “Congratulations to Michelle Thomson on her successful selection to fight the campaign for the SNP in Falkirk East and I wish her well with the coming campaign.”

Hide AdCouncillor Meiklejohn said it was “a challenging campaign” and one she was privileged to be part of.
She added: “Four strong, female candidates, of which I know we all have worked hard to see, and have overcome significant hurdles to get here.
“There is a pathway into politics - your voices are important, and I will always fight for what is right, and work to support better and further inclusion in our political landscape.”She said she would continue to focus on her council role.
“What happens next is clear - I will continue to work hard and take Falkirk district forward with my colleagues in Falkirk Council, ensuring that we secure our plans to improve services, support our communities and get through the challenges we face now, and in the future.”
