Linlithgow candidates: Kirsteen Sullivan, Labour - Scottish Parliament elections 2021

I moved to Bathgate from Glasgow 13 years ago. Like so many who relocated to the area, we chose West Lothian to put down roots and bring up our family.

Now a mum of three, I share the same hopes and concerns as those I meet - the need for an education system that equips our children for the jobs of tomorrow and life skills to flourish; quality employment offering a decent standard of living; affordable rents in quality homes; local services and amenities for old and young alike; a more sustainable environment; and support for those who are struggling whether personally, financially or healthwise.

As a councillor my work is rooted in the needs of the communities I represent, successfully championing the delivery of free sanitary products in local schools and initiating the establishment of the West Lothian Food Network, bringing the Co-operative Party’s Food Justice campaign to the area.

If elected I will: Fight to restore Scotland’s once world-leading education system and close the school attainment gap; press for additional support for the local economy and businesses, to create more jobs and provide training to address the skills gaps; work to improve GP services to meet the needs of West Lothian’s growing population and defend St John’s hospital; campaign for better local bus services and transport links ; back a fairer funding deal for West Lothian Council to fully provide local services, and f ight for factor reform for private homeowners.

I’ve delivered change locally.

I’m now ready to take my vision and drive to the Scottish Parliament and be a strong voice for the people of the Linlithgow constituency.
