Falkirk plays its role in historic US election

Falkirk played an unexpected part in the historic US election which saw billionaire businessman Donald Trump elected to the White House today.

An American intern for Falkirk MP John McNally was showing her round our fine district when she decided to cast her vote from the Post Office in Cow Wynd.

Emily Porter from Chicago is a volunteer intern from the Institute for International Education of Students in London and has temporarily joined the staff of Mr McNally.

The 20-year-old is studying political science at Grinnell College, Iowa.

The MP said: “I was taking Emily round the constituency when she cast her vote.

“I’m sure this was a bit of a historic event for the Cow Wynd and is one election Emily will remember taking part in despite being so far from home.”
