Michael Matheson has retained his Justice role in the new Scottish Cabinet.
The Falkirk West MSP was re-appointed by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as she unveiled her team today.
He took over the Justice portfolio from Kenny MacAskill in 2014 and quickly established himself as a formidable Cabinet Secretary.
During his initial 18 month tenure both the Chief Constable and chairman of the Scottish Police Authority stepped down.
He also had to deal with the fallout from the M9 crash incident, when two people died after being left trapped in their car for several days, and the question of police call handling centres.
Following the announcement he would stay at Justice, Mr Matheson said he was “delighted” by the news.
