Ventilation checks put Forth Valley sports centres re-opening date on hold

Plans to re-open two sports centres remain in limbo.

The operators of Grangemouth sports Centre and Bo’ness Recreation Centre are unable to confirm a start date.

Falkirk Fitness is reviewing the facilities’ ventilation as part of its COVID checklist.

A statement published on its Facebook page said: “We are currently unable to confirm reopening dates for Grangemouth Sports Complex or Bo’ness Recreation Centre.

“Given the age of these buildings, it is important that we review the ventilation aspects of these facilities as we know the COVID-19 virus can be spread through airborne methods.”

It added: “We will provide updates on these facilities as soon as we can.”

As a result of further inspections required, coupled with current Scottish Government restrictions imposed on indoor group exercise, the operators are extending complimentary health and fitness access to all of members for a further month.

Direct debit payment will now not recommence until December 1.
