Planning officers had recommended permission be refused to Manor Forrest Ltd. as too many outstanding issues had not been
addressed by the applicant.

One objection from a member of the public was received saying the proposal was “premature and
appears to have no purpose”.

However, Councillor John McLuckie argued, however, that it made sense to agree to build the roads first, in particular the roundabout.

He was backed by fellow Lower Braes councillor, Conservative James Kerr who said he been inundated with emails from people living near the area with
regard to speeding and he felt the roundabout would help.

Councillor Gordon Hughes, the local SNP councillor for the area, said while a  roundabout would be welcome, this application was also for an access road with no masterplan.

Councillors were told that only some of the
surrounding land has been given planning permission for houses and there was a lack of information from the developer – including how many houses they wanted to build around the site.

Members of Falkirk Council’s planning committee agreed to continue the application when they held a vitural meeting last week. They said the continuation would allow more information to be obtained from the developers.
