Polmont  PGA pro set to launch new golf training facility

Planning permission has been granted to open a new golf training facility in Falkirk.

PGA professional Bobby Rushford can now begin work to open Fairways Indoor Golf Arena, in Abbotsford Business Park, just off the A9.

While Covid restrictions make it impossible to say when the new centre will open, Mr Rushford is hopeful work will start soon.

He is well known locally as he comes from Polmont and was previously a professional at Glenbervie Golf Club before opening his first indoor arena in Coatbridge in 2019.

The businessman first looked at a site in Camelon, but felt Abbotsford was more suitable.

The facility at Unit 2, Lammermoor Avenue, will create three full-time and three part-time jobs.

Concerns were raised about parking but it was felt that with peak numbers expected to be 10, the bays would be sufficient along with on-street parking.

The new facility will house four driving range simulator bays and a teaching bay with a short game area and pitching green.
