Popular eatery Chianti has been given planning permission to set up a new outdoor eating area.

The Italian restaurant at East Beancross Farm, Polmont, had applied to Falkirk Council for permission to create a new dining area with a retractable roof, which would replace the existing outside dining area.

The restaurant has also been given planning consent to add a new area of decking to the rear of the restaurant.

The applicants say both new areas will help them keep social distancing measures in place to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Chianti has also been running a home delivery service for customers who are nervous about dining out during the pandemic or for people who are having to isolate.

The application was given the go-ahead at a recent virtual meeting of the planning committee.
