The council reviewed its parking charges after pleas from town centre traders to make them more flexible.

The result will be a new parking tariff of 50 pence for the first 30 minutes being introduced at all short term town centre parking locations, both on and off street.

The change will mean a loss of revenue - estimated at around £10,000 - at a time when the council has already seen income from parking reduced by half, due to the coronavirus crisis.

Members of Falkirk Council executive heard on Tuesday, when they agreed the change, that it is expected to take three weeks for the new tariff to be put in place as the change will need to be advertised.

All of the council's ticket machines will now be updated along with the ‘RingGo’ mobile platform.
