"My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones due to Covid and also to those who have lost loved ones due to other illnesses and due to restrictions were unable to hold full family funerals.

"As Provost of Falkirk I am proud to see how our people are displaying real resilience in the face of this pandemic and would recognise the wonderful work done by those in the NHS, key workers and groups and individuals within our communities who are doing so much to support the vulnerable.

"I am also proud of the council departments who are continuing to provide services for our communities.

"I would also like to thank all those who have contributed to the Provost’s Christmas Appeal which supports needy children in our area.

"Over £4,000 was raised which is a tremendous response.

"As we get near to celebrating the birth of Jesus and enter into a new year, may I wish you all health, happiness and hope that 2021 will bring an end to the pandemic and we can all get back to some kind of normality.”
