Brazen thieves are breaking into homes overnight and stealing the owners’ belongings while they are sleeping.

Mobile phones, computers and electrical equipment have been stolen from homes in Glenbervie Road, Ochil Street, Lennox Terrace, Inchyra Place, Haig Street and Lumley Street between October 23 and November 8.

Inspector Chris Stewart said: “Thieves have been taking advantage of unlocked doors overnight and simply walking into homes and stealing items they can carry away.

“People have then woken in the morning to find their possessions gone, and no forced entry.

“It only takes a second to lock your door and then put the key out of sight.

“Extra steps like outside lights and alarms will make your home even less attractive to someone looking to slip in and steal.”

Anyone with information about these thefts should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
