Police have launched an investigation into a “suspicious” incident in which a 12-year-old girl was approached and spoken to by a man in Broxburn on Thursday.
Officers are urging anyone who has seen someone matching the man’s description to get in touch - and are also appealing to the man himself to get in touch.
The incident happened at 12.50pm on Thursday in the Timmeryetts/Douglas Wynd area of Broxburn.
The man police want to intrerview is white, 5ft 10ins and slim with brown spiky hair, and is aged 20 to 25.
He had a red spacer in his right ear, and was wearing a grey hooded top with black writing on the front and grey joggers.
Detective Sergeant Graham Garvie said: “Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, including the man’s motivation.
“We want to reassure the public that we have received no other reports of any similar incidents in the town. However, we are, of course, treating this seriously.
“We urge anyone who may have been in the area at this time and seen this man, or who recognises his description to get in touch.
“Likewise, if the man in question sees this appeal we would also ask him to contact us to assit in our investigation”.
