The girl, who it is believed gave a different girl’s name, turned up alone at the Cadgers Brae Premier Inn around 9pm seeming to be disorientated and worried.

She said she was from Aberdeen and had an aunt in the Falkirk area called Karen Wells, but later ran away from hotel staff.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for the girl’s welfare and are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

She is described as being between 12 and 14 years old with long black hair in a centre parting.

She was wearing glasses, a purple or maroon round neck school jumper with a light-coloured crest on the left and a white shirt underneath.

Sergeant Andy Gardner, from Grangemouth police station, said: “We have made extensive inquiries in our efforts to find Emma and make sure she is safe however we are concerned for her welfare.

“Anyone with information that can help us to trace her is asked to please contact us on 101.”
