In pictures: Pirates and Princesses Day

Swashbuckling pirates and pretty princesses descended on Falkirk town centre at the weekend.

The event was the annual Easter holiday parade when Captain Barbarossa and his crew cause their usual mayhem in the High Street, but all in the name of good-natured fun.

This year, the weather was kind and the pirate ship was able to ‘sail’ its way through the heart of the town without a drop of water in sight.

The day got off to an exciting start with a Treasure Hunt when with a little help from the Captain’s pirate gang youngsters were able to hunt for the bounty. There was also face-painting, story telling, arts and crafts and more, before it was time for the big parade for everyone to enjoy.

A spokeswoman for Falkirk Delivers said: “Once again this was a great success with families, shoppers and businesses all getting involved.

“Now in its sixth year, it’s fair to say this is an established part of the town centre’s events calendar and one which adds a huge degree of fun and vibrancy for all.

“It’s great to see our town centre communities come together to make the day the success that it is.

“Thanks go to all our town centre businesses who helped and joined in the fun and of course, to all to all our Pirates and Princesses who came along and enjoyed the day.”
