Catching up with Falkirk’s four-legged friends
What is your name? Denise Outram
Where are you from? Lionthorn, Falkirk
Who is your pet? Henry the 85 kilo rough coated St Bernard
How long have you had them? Henry has been with us since he was 11-months-old. I took him from a couple who didn’t realise how much they were taking on with a St Bernard. They couldn’t handle him anymore. They had called him Peter Andre, but I said no, I’m not calling him that so I changed his name to Henry. He will be three in July.
Why did you choose them? I have always had a big passion for St Bernards and had Bermese mountain dogs before. He just gelled with us from the start. They are fantastic dogs in the right hands.
What’s he like to live with? He does slobber and drool a lot and even has a bib with his name on it. Everyone knows him when we go for a walk down Falkirk High Street and people have taken so many pictures of him. He’s lovely with children and very loyal.
Would you recommend them as a pet? I would, but people should do some research about them first. They do eat a lot and, although they don’t need a lot of exercise, they still have to be walked to stop them getting too heavy.
Do they have any special talents? He can open doors and bins – he’s just a big lovable rogue.
