Person dies after being hit by train travelling between Croy and Polmont

A person was hit by a train which was travelling between Croy and Polmont train stations on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services are currently on the scene.

ScotRail announced on its Twitter feed that due to the ongoing incident has announced that trains running between Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street, via Falkirk High, will now be diverted and run via Falkirk Grahamston.

One passenger aboard the train travelling from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh said: “There are loads of ambulances, police and the fire brigade.”

The passenger added the train was not leaving where it was located any time soon.

A spokeswoman for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line in Falkirk at 12:44pm following report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
