West Lothian political union gets a little stronger as love breaches political divide

The loose alliance between the Labour and Tory groups in West Lothian got a little stronger recently.

Labour councillor Angela Doran married Tory group leader Councillor Damian Timson on December 5 at Strathbrock Parish Church, Uphall, with a “select” group of 18 friends and family to witness the happy event.

Angela is a  councillor in the Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh ward, while Damian represents East Livingston and East Calder. Both were elected in 2017.

The couple met when they attended a charity football event for the Neils Hugs foundation. 

A planned honeymoon to New York had to be postponed to post-pandemic and both councillors were back at their posts in the “virtual” council chamber instead for a meeting of West Lothian Council’s Executive. 

Damian said: “We are taking each others names and are Mr & Mrs Doran-Timson.”
